Department of Education Study Sheds Light on New Teacher Workforce |

NCES' Beginning Teacher Longitudinal Study reflects the first three years of data among the 2,000 participants, which will continue for a minimum of five years. One of the many purposes of the study is to provide a better understanding of the impact that different life events have on teaching careers, including getting married, moving, or starting a family. It will also help to track patterns on how school or district policies affect teacher satisfaction and how teachers respond to transitions in their lives and careers. Among the interesting findings:
While the study is not yet complete, the most noteworthy statistic is the attrition rate of new teachers. In a climate where half our teaching workforce will be retiring in the next ten years, keeping effective teachers should be a focus among schools and districts. Whether it is through higher pay scales or quality mentorship programs, attracting and retaining our best and brightest to a career in teaching will be the goal for years to come. What are your thoughts about the study? Do you think teacher attrition is our biggest obstacle in sustaining an effective workforce? Comment below.

We pick out an afternoon in a yr for hard work and have fun as a labor day. but karakas-design stated that we want to admire them each day, not that particular day only.
