Risks Facing K-12 Educators Today
As you know, there are many uncertainties associated with working in a complex teaching environment. Today's school environment is much different than a decade ago, or even a year ago. Educators face significant risks everyday. Even if you've done nothing wrong, allegations can be made against you. These false allegations may include:
- Failure to educate or recognize learning disabilities
- Negligent supervision of your students - in the classroom, school halls, outside premises, even on field trips
- Failure to safeguard against injuries to students during the regular school day, special events, or other authorized school activities
- Improper counseling or evaluation of students
- Failure to recognize or report abuse or social misconduct
- Verbal abuse or assault of students
- Failure to secure medical attention when a child requires it
- Sexual misconduct and discrimination
To protect against these and other possible issues, every teacher needs to have a personal liability insurance policy. Click here to learn more about obtaining a policy through PACCE.
