PACCE Applauds Member for Winning National Art Award

Las Vegas – Professional Association of Clark County Educators (PACCE) member Cindy Allen has been chosen by the National Art Education Association as the 2008 Pacific Region Art Teacher of the Year. Cindy Allen is an art teacher at Von Tobel Middle School in Las Vegas. She has been teaching in Clark County for 13 years.

The Pacific Region Art Teacher of the Year award was first presented in 1955 and is recognized as one of the highest awards in the discipline. The National Art Education Association will present Cindy Allen with her award certificate in March at the NAEA national conference in New Orleans.

“PACCE is honored that its membership numbers among the best and the brightest of America’s educators” said Gary Beckner, Executive Director of the Association of American Educators (AAE), PACCE’s national partner. “PACCE looks forward to continuing to work with educators like Cindy to help make Clark County a place where teachers love to teach and students love to learn.”

Because of recent statewide education budget constraints, the Clark County School District is unable to pay for Ms. Allen to travel to New Orleans to accept her award. Instead, the AAE Foundation will partially underwrite Ms. Allen’s travel expenses.

“Education budgets are tight these days,” added Beckner. “As Cindy’s professional association, we know how important it is to be recognized by fellow educators who share the same passion. We just want to do our part.”

The Professional Association of Clark County Educators (PACCE) is Nevada's premier professional teachers’ association that advances the profession through personal growth, professional development, teacher advocacy and protection, as well as promoting educational excellence, so that educators receive the respect, recognition and reward they deserve. PACCE membership is only $180 a year and is open to all employees of education institutions.
